Since this is a Weyr, you might be wondering--how do hatchings work? How does my character Impress a dragon?
First and foremost, a Queen must participate in a mating flight. Queens will rise up to twice per Turn. This means we should have four clutches in a real-life Turn. Even more, if the queen lays a golden egg and that queen reaches maturity! The queen will lay her clutch a few weeks after the flight, and then a few weeks later the eggs will hatch.
Once a Queen has taken her mating flight and chosen a suitor, the staff begins planning the clutch. Number of eggs, number of each color, and so on are all taken into consideration and planned out according to the Weyr's needs. If we have a larger pool of Candidates, chances are we'll plan for more eggs. In Pern canon, Queens lay more during a Pass than an Interval, but we want to give everyone the chance to Impress.
When it comes down to the hatching, the thread will be posted in the Hatching Sands. We will give everyone about an hour to get their Candidates to the Sands, and then the real fun begins! Don't worry--your character can Impress even if you cannot make it! All we need from you is notice that you cannot make it to the hatching, and we will still have your Impression happen, if that's in the plans. You will always have the chance to post your character's intro and reaction when you are available.
Not everyone is guaranteed to Impress from every clutch, and for that we apologize, but it just would not make any sense! We do ask that you fill out the questionnaire below to help us better match a hatchling to your candidate!
